  • LOGIS builds New Generation Planning System for Timken

The Timken Company (OH, USA) became a pioneer of so-called Advanced Planning (APS) in the early nineties by implementing i2 Factory Planner as the very first customer of now legendary i2 Technologies. Today, after twenty years, Timken decided to build a new generation planning system. The partner for realization of this project is the LOGIS company.

    Canton, Ohio; 21/3/2011

LOGIS, a Czech supplier of expert supply chain management services and a producer of advanced planning and scheduling software, announced today that it will build a new production planning and order fulfillment system for The Timken Company – a global friction management and power transmission solutions provider. “Improved customer service is the main driver of the project,” said William P. Bryan, director – supply chain and supply chain economics at Timken. “LOGIS’s production planning and order fulfillment system will provide better tools and improved processes so we can provide more accurate commitments to the customers and improve on-time delivery. Better planning will also yield increased capacity and reduced inventory levels.” “Timken is a matter of the heart for us,” said Dalibor Konvicka, Chairman and CEO at LOGIS. “The very first implementation of i2’s Factory Planner product was done at Timken. Over the last year, we also worked jointly with Timken to implement a new production planning system for their primary steel mills – so we know we’re able to handle very complex problems together. For this new project, we expect to set new limits of what a planning system can provide to a steel producer. This ambition would be hardly thinkable and achievable without having a customer such as Timken.” The project will be implemented over the next 19 months utilizing several LOGIS software products, including JDA Factory Planner, LOGIS Campaign Planner and LOGIS Material Allocator. The LOGIS Caster Scheduler, which Timken has used since last September, will be upgraded and integrated more closely with the other software tools.
